What to Do in the Event of a Car Accident
1. Inspect for injuries - If you’re travelling with your family, it should be an instinct to make sure that everyone is safe. Call 999 immediately and an ambulance if there’s an injury.
2. Document - With everyone safe and help is on its way, you should then take pictures of the scene. You’ll have to exchange names and contact details with everyone else affected by the accident.
3. Contact your insurance company - In case you’re liable for the damage, you’ll have to notify your insurance provider of the accident and ask for any coverage in your policy.
4. Contact your rental company - Afterwards, you’ll have to inform the rental company of the incident and ask them how to proceed. Most rental companies offer coverage particularly for long-term rental cars in Singapore.
5. Determine who’s responsible in the claim - In case you paid for premium coverage, you can rest easy knowing that the car rental company will cover the cost of damage if it’s identified that you’re at fault.
